Inspired by Ontario cottage country, the clients asked for a “naturalistic northern design”. With this, I focused on an ecotone region of the province known as “The Land Between” by using both a plant selection and material selection that paid homage to this unique area of our country.

Oak savannah, native food forest, a dry creek bed and naturalized pollinator meadows are complimented by Canadian shield granite, Corten steel, Manitoulin limestone and Western Red Cedar for lumber. It provides a space that blends these elements seamlessly to create a tranquil cottage retreat right in their backyard.
